Culture of separation (the difficult fate of the deceased)

Abstract. The article considers a variety of options for handling a dead body, adopted by different peoples in different epochs. Some of these customs have an ethnographic origin, some – social (reflects social inequality), some – religious. The relevance of the article is that it raises the question of the importance of the burial custom in the cultures of different peoples and different epochs.
