Abstract. The article deals with music as cultural heritage, education in the field of arts, some questions of contemporary artistic life. The authors discuss some problems of contemporary culture, particularly, interpretation of classical works in the context of mass culture, as well as musical theatre characters being created and interpreted in the past and nowadays.
