The Ancient cosmos and its evolution:
ritual, spectacle, entertainment

Abstract. The consideration of the European musical tradition and its evolution, which took place over a long time, is extremely interesting material for the researcher.  Musical culture is con-sidered in this article in its classical ancient version as a unity of singing, dance and music, once enclosed in the Greek triune chorea. The starting point and the beginning of the study was the phenomenon of ancient "grassroots" culture – komos, a festive song in honor of Dionysus, which plays an extremely important role, since ancient comedy grows out of the traditions of attic ritual fun. The mystical triad of the cosmos takes on different guises: rituals, spectacles, entertainment, being embodied in specific phenomena appropriate to a particular time, a particular country. The mystical triad took a special path in Russia. It took only two centuries for Peter the Great's noisy bacchanalian festival to develop into high art. This article is devoted to these metamorphoses.

Keywords: komos, laughter, triune chorea, musical arts, singing, music, dance, ritual, spectacle, entertainment.
