Culturological concept of foreign language education by E.I. Passova

Abstract. The article discusses the concept of foreign language education by Passov. In it, the author distinguishes two parts: one representing a general new concept of education, oriented culturologically and personalistically, the other representing a concretization of this concept regarding the teaching of foreign languages. The introduced are discussed. The concepts of communication and situations that mediate the concept of the "dialogue of cultures" by V.S. Bybler and the new semiotic-communicative practice of teaching a foreign language. The author shows that E. Passov proposes to radically restructure the paradigmatic foundations of education, focusing it on the dialogue of cultures, individualization, communication, equal horizontal relations between teachers and students. In this regard, in the first place in the educational process, he puts not cognition and assimilation of normative contents, but, on the one hand, desire as a process and condition of motivation for learning, on the other - the formation of a spiritual person and the competence of creative activity. The proposed solutions are analyzed. The method and means of concretization of the general foreign language concept of education are the modeling of culture, typologization of communication situations and language meanings, techniques and technology used in foreign language education. The author draws attention to the fact that E. Passov understands techniques and technology not traditionally, but as competencies and abilities developed by the student himself during education.
