Flier's concept of culture and its role in the development of Russian cultural studies

Abstract. The article shows the role of Professor A.Ya. Flier in the formation of domestic cultural studies, revealed the features of his conceptual approach to culture, which is considered in a functional aspect, analyzed the features of the scientist's approach to the methodology of cultural studies, which is considered cultural modeling, reflecting in a generalized form empirically observed processes and phenomena. Within the framework of this methodology, the peculiarity of traditional culture is revealed.
