Art culture as a subject of cultural research: theory and history (beginning)

Abstract. The article is devoted to the analysis of the formation of the national school of art and culture research, in particular, to the scientific creativity of M. Kagan. The subject is studied in the broad context of discussions about the art and views of foreign researchers in the domestic philosophy and science of the second half of the twentieth century.
