The origins of the civilizational paradigm in culture: why did Russia outpace the West in this matter?

Abstract. The article is devoted to the consideration of the appearance of the civilizational concept of world history N.Ya. Danilevsky and the analysis of the ideological origins of this dynamic model. The author's hypothesis about why this idea was born in Russia earlier than in the West is also argued.
