Abstract: The article gives full attention to reflections on historical destiny of culture and prospects for its further development. The author focuses on significant losses suffered by the culture over the past three centuries, on utilitarianisation of public consciousness, barbarization of mores, domination of mosaic of consciousness, etc., and concludes that development of aesthetics and culture is a priority.
