Non-traditional, socio-cultural interpretation of the book by Meer Shalev "Fontanella" (ending)

Abstract. The author's analysis of the poetics of Meer Shalev's novel "Fontanella" is taken as an empirical material and a sample of such understanding. Four big themes stand out in this work: the love of the main character of the book by Michael, the creation of a new world from the very beginning, the characteristics of the values that keep a person in life, the discussion of the features of the artistic reality that Meer Shalev builds as an artist. Reflecting on the first topic, the author identifies several images of love in "Fontanelle", describing in more detail the mystical love of the main character for a young woman Anya, love in family and marriage, love for children. At the same time, he discusses not only how Meer Shalev understands and describes love in Fontanelle, but also talks about the author's own understanding of love. In the plot of the second theme, the author identifies two lines: the story of the main character's grandfather, Apupa, who carries his beloved Amuma across the country on his shoulders in search of a place where they could create a home and family, and the story of the gradual transformation into a city of a small settlement created on the mountain by Apupa and Amuma, and several Jewish families below valleys. If the first story resembles heroic biblical deeds, then the second is an ordinary social process. Discussing in the third topic, the pillars on which a person relies in life, the author highlights such values as work, love, family and kin, creativity, showing that Michael is not alone, he is loved, he joins the history of family and kin, and himself ‒ to the history of Israel and Jewish culture, drawing strength from the heroes of this story. The last part of the article characterizes the reality of "Fontanella" and explains why the author liked it.
