Laughter and culture: from mentality to genre

Abstract. The article is devoted to the historical evolution of laughter images in culture and, above all, in fiction. The attention of the author is focused on the interpretation of these laughing images in contemporary culture. We also consider the national characteristics of the laughter culture, in particular, the humor tradition in Russian literature.
