Sociology and cultural studies:
semantic and conceptual differences and intersections

Abstract. Sociology and cultural studies, in particular, can be attributed to social Sciences, but in this case, you need to understand what their specificity as social Sciences. To promote the stated topic, the author analyzes works of the classics of sociology and cultural studies, examines the stages of development of sociology and cultural studies, offers a methodological reconstruction of the way of thinking in these scientific disciplines. In particular, he tries to show that the sociological and cultural knowledge and concepts are based on patterns; their basis is then formed ideal objects and concepts of these Sciences. V. rosin argues that the social phenomenon is not an object but a process, a cycle, beginning with the act of freedom and ending with the formation of social knowledge and machines (often social Institute), in which freedom is limited by social norms. Describing the modern understanding of culture, the author identifies several main meanings: culture as tradition, as a creation of the people as a whole in three different interpretations (biological, psychological and social), as the many cultures which exist in interaction and communication, as a field of thematicaly culture, finally, as cultural practices.
