"Storytelling" as a form of narrative in Modern Popular culture

Abstract. The article examines the features of the narrative in modern popular culture. The history of narrative in culture and the changing forms of narrative in various cultural formations are traced. The stability of the archetypal structures underlying the narrative and the reasons for the popularity of the narrative in the form of "storytelling", common in the (post)modern culture. It is noted that "stories" in various spheres of mass culture correspond to such features of postmodern culture as consumerism and entertainment. The conclusion is made about the ambiguous nature of the narrative of mass culture, which is associated with the general problems of the mediatized culture of the digital era.
