The Handmade Identity: Representation Strategies
Abstract: The article focuses on a hobby popular today – handmade, to show the essential features of the modern identification process and representation practices. The authors match work against leisure project, which assumes self-expression during the realization of the latter. Handmade is aimed at implementation of a subject’s creativity towards a particular material object and the world of things as it is. The article highlights three key aspects of the identification process in the handmade project: identification of the object (a result of activity), the subject, and modern craft project with its features, such as shaping communication environment and so on.
