The Social Through the Lens of the Cultural: Searching for Appropriate Viewing System

Abstract. The article presents its author’s views on capabilities of culturology connected with the analysis of social forms as culturally determined ones, search for cultural foundations of social existence, etc., as well as viewing culturology in the whole as a scientific theory of “the middle level” and opposing it to philosophy of culture and empirical cultural studies.
