A woman in culture: from the eternal "Otherness" to the triumph of femininity
Part one
Abstract. This article is the first in a series of publications devoted to the place of a woman in the culture of the past and present. The role of women in culture from the point of view of its historical roots and socio-cultural dynamics is considered. For thousands of years, the woman in culture was assigned the secondary role of the Other, which, according to the representatives of feminism, was constructed by the tradition of masculine domination. Changing the stereotypes of "ousting" a woman from important spheres of culture, particularly creativity, begins to occur already in the XIX century, when women become the subject of creativity, which is the beginning of the feminization of culture, characteristic of our time.
Keywords. Gender, culture, femininity, myth, tradition, stereotype, creativity, art, representation.
